Gemsell

Hi! I am a mother of 6 and I work from home making jewelry. I was born in NY and now live on the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico. My Mom started making Jewelry to help with her parkinson's desease. It helped keep her hands steady. She got me started making jewelry. I have always loved jewelry and it just seemed like the perfect way to go when thinking about starting my business. I have a farm business but we also as farmers always need an extra side business for when times are slow. My husband has a few things he works on from landscaping to wood working projects. I found my place in Jewelry making. My sisters and mom all are a part of my shop and I love that. It's a family affair around here. My company name is "Gemsell" a cross between damsel and Gems to sell. I like the way it sounds because a women without her accessories is in distress lol! I love turquoise, and coral colors. I guess that has to do with the Islands, but I also love copper, bronze. and silver materials to work with. Seashells, pearls, and other things close to nature I like to use to make the items seem more tropical. Like here in PR they use palm tree seeds to make jewelry. Using copper is very popular here too. One of the first set of earrings I brought here were copper hoops. There is so much you can do with jewelry here because bright colors are something we wear all year round. I love all the possibilities.
